About Me

My name is Nicholas Cawthon-Church and this is my personal

about me page where I will get the chance to give you a glimpse into my life and what keeps me motivated.

It's_Me

I have always thought technology was a nice commodity but never did I think that it was going to be a passion for me. I.T. is something that I hold close, and for good reason. I come from a background in hard labor like structural welding, and ranch hand. During my time working those types of jobs I came across many environments that just did not line up with me. However, once I left Texas for Colorado my life and career would change forever. I just didn’t know how.

After bartending in Colorado for a while, four years, I decided I don’t want to do this forever. I started looking at other jobs and what my new world had to offer. I found that no matter what I was looking at I was drawn to the rewarding work of being in I.T. At this point I knew, I need education. I knew nothing about computers much less how the communicate. So I enrolled at Pikes Peak Community College in order to get a CCNA certificate.

I now have a CCNA and I’m currently working on getting a AAS in Computer Networking and one in Cyber Security. I have a while to go if we are looking at how many classes I have left, but I have a lifetime to go if we are looking at my personal studies and projects. If you want to know more about those I suggest clicking on that menu title.

I am currently a Tier-1 Help Desk Analyst and I couldn’t be happier. At this position working with Synq3 Restaurant Solutions, I was given a long leash which allowed me to do much more than your average Tier-1 employee. I build/maintain scripts that allow for automation of many of my Tier-1 duties like, making AD accounts, assigning 365 teams to a mass group, even for just pulling info from our Domains. This has proved to be very valuable, enough so for me to make this website sharing what I’ve learned.

My 5-year goals are being marked off left and right, thank goodness it’s always a bit unnerving making goals and expecting myself to reach them. The fact that I’ve already met a few goals shows me that this is the career path for me. Anyway in doing so I’ve had to add a few more. The one I would like to reach next is: Getting to use my CCNA in a Networking title. This one does seem like a big leap coming from knowing very little in Fall of 2020, but its on there now and I am going to mark it off soon.
